From RealNetworks, this media player is very affordable...cos
it's FREE!
The encoder however is not...bummers! I was lucky to
get mine while it was.
The quality for this format is NOT as great but, it gets
the mix (s) heard.
They're subjected to the net's bandwidth, modem speed,
and a host of other
factors I care not to invoke. Of course the designers
at Real will one day fix this
once the internet improves it infrastructure.
Based out of Seattle, these guys are the forefront of
the pack in terms of users
and encoders. It's primary use these days is realtime
news and entertainment 'streaming'. Simply put, they shoot a video along
with the audio program, then encode the entire footage into RealAudio/Video...that's
it!
Of course one can only say...you gotta have a great master
to become a really great encoded program for playback anytime, anywhere
on the net.
But like I said, it all depends if your modem is transmitting
at a greater than 56K
speed to really take the 'expressway' lanes of the internet
and view non-choppy/jerky video footages. Let's see what the 'caretakers'
of the internet have in store for us...shall we?
